HTML, CSS, JavaScript – HTML is used to add the content to your web page as it is where the test is written and links to images made, however it can also be used to do basic formatting however this is not recommended and CSS should be used instead. CSS is used to format pages and can either be written above, inline and/or completely separately the the HTML. CSS will likely be used to do most of if not all formatting on most pages, and is enclosed within a “<style></style>” tag if written above. Finally JavaScript is used for the moving or logic parts of a web page, this includes but in limited to: slide shows, forms and other interactive parts of a web page.
Search Engine Indexing – Search engine indexing is how search engines store data about every site and allows them to quickly display the bets results without having to search all of the web every time someone makes a request. Web crawlers go from link to link gathering data about each page, this is then stored in a huge index to be accessed later.
PageRank Algorithm – the page rank algorithm is how a search engine determines which web pages are most relevant to the search and then use this data to order them. This is the core difference between search engines. Below is how google used to rank web pages on top of the content they displayed

Server and client side processing – different processes are done either by the client ( the computer accessing the data) or the server (the machine supplying the data).

Different processes are done either by the client or the server for different reasons. For example web page interactivity is done client side as it would be too slow and unnecessary to send the data to the server to be processed while database queries are done by the server as the client doesn’t necessarily have access to all of the data need to fulfill the request.
